Missing canoeist found alive


RANCHO JJ EYEN4 A FARMINGTON CANOEIST IS FOUND ALIVE -- MORE THAN 48 HOURS AFTER HE WAS REPORTED MISSING TONIGHT HE S SHARING HIS STORY OF SURVIVAL WITH US OUR AUSTIN REED WAS THE FIRST REPORTER TO TALK TO THE CANOEIST TODAY - HE S LIVE IN FARMINGTON -- WITH THE STORY AUSTIN A BAG OF PEANUTS A BOND FIRE RIVER WATER AND SOME FAITH 49 YEAR OLD JACKIE DUNNING SAYS THAT S WHAT HELPED HIM STAY ALIVE THE MAN ALONG WITH TWO FRIENDS VENTURED OUT TO THE SAN JUAN RIVER SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALONG THE WAY DUNNING S CANOE HIT A STRONG WAVE AND HIS FRIENDS LOST SIGHT OF HIM DUNNING WALKED UP THE RIVER BANK ABOUT 30 MILES WEST OF SHIPROCK AND DECIDED TO JUST CAMP OUT AND THAT IS WHERE A SEARCH AND RESCUE HELICOPTER SPOTTED HIM WAIVING AN ORANGE SHIRT IN THE AIR AROUND 12 30 THIS AFTERNOON i mean I didn t really have any premonitions that I wouldn t make it or anything like that I mean it actually gave me a lot of time to reflect on life and stuff DUNNING IS BEING TREATED FOR DE- HYDRATION AT SAN JUAN REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER HE SHOULD BE RELEASED LATER TONIGHT DUNNING TELLS ME HE PLANS TO GO BACK TO WORK TOMORROW AND HOPES TO CANOE AGAIN SOMETIME SOON LIVE IN
