Not a Baaaaad Outcome
Remember this scene from this spring s flooding along the Mouse River It happened April 14th - when about 100 pregnant ewes were rescued from their flooded pasture near Logan and taken by boat to higher ground It was a very unusual rescue - with officials from the State andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t nd-game-and-fish-departmentandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt Game and Fish Departmentandamp lt aandamp gt andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t roosevelt-park-zooandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt Roosevelt Park Zooandamp lt aandamp gt and andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t minot-policeandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt Minot Policeandamp lt aandamp gt Department s Animal Control Division planning it and pulling it off Alan Howard Game Warden andamp quot We had enough personnel in the boat to hang on to some of the sheep in the front and in the back and the middle ones were loose But they all rode well across the water there andamp quot Not long after their boat ride those mama sheep gave birth And now two of the bottle lambs are part of the petting zoo at Minot s Roosevelt Park Zoo The sheep s owner Neil Grubb says many people including his neighbor who let him use his high pasture land saved his lambing season Neal Grubb Rancher andamp quot For all they d been through with the hard winter we had and then the flood it s just been one thing after another It was quite a downer for a while And then to see the outcome at the end I was very happy andamp quot Dean Hildenbrand Neighbor andamp quot It was kind of neat It was an interesting turn of events that happened and I m happy to be involved in it andamp quot And you re happy to let him use your land andamp quot Absolutely He s a good neighbor and never a problem It s nice to help out andamp quot Grubb says the lambing of his 100 ewes has been very smooth He s moving the sheep back to his own land as each ewe gives birth
