Dealing With Ice and Logs

As the mouse continues to rise concern ALSO rises in regards to ice jams Earlier today on lookers gathered on 4th street and the 8th street bridge to photograph and watch in awe as the roaring river gave way to blocks of ice City crews were out surveying the river and keeping a watchful eye on the ice jams They say they are working closely the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard Meetings are held every morning to discuss the level of the rivers and the ice build up Dean Lenertz Public Information Officer andamp quot We have the Corps down looking at the ice jams and if they think it is a concern we are going to bring in a boat and bust up the jams that might be slowing the water down a little bit andamp quot Dan Jonasson Asst Public Works andamp quot We do not know how much ice is up stream that is why we are going to look at getting that stuff broken up down there so that gets moving down and get it through town andamp quot City of Minot officials say for right now there is no need for concern as the water continues to flow at a steady rate If you notice anything suspicious you are asked to give Minot Public Works or the EOC a call the numbers are on your screen
