Boating to Home
Last night is a night many people will remember for the speed that the rivers in the region rose Here s one good example Near Logan Nancy Larson had her long driveway worked on last night Today it was underwater even though the Mouse River is nearly a mile away And that means her home is now accessible by only one means of transportation boat Larson says this has only happened a couople of times since the 1969 flood Nancy Larson Logan Resident andamp quot Last night I graded my road and this morning it s underwater I had to borrow a boat from a former colleague a teacher at Des Lacs I borrowed a boat from him because mine s down at the lake and i couldn t get to it It s interesting Well that s one word for it andamp quot Larson says the good thing is that the water has no current so it doesn t damage her driveway And she s doing some sandbagging near her house in case the water keeps rising
Dealing With Ice and Logs
As the mouse continues to rise concern ALSO rises in regards to ice jams Earlier today on lookers gathered on 4th street and the 8th street bridge to photograph and watch in awe as the roaring river gave way to blocks of ice City crews were out surveying the river and keeping a watchful eye on the ice jams They say they are working closely the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard Meetings are held every morning to discuss the level of the rivers and the ice build up Dean Lenertz Public Information Officer andamp quot We have the Corps down looking at the ice jams and if they think it is a concern we are going to bring in a boat and bust up the jams that might be slowing the water down a little bit andamp quot Dan Jonasson Asst Public Works andamp quot We do not know how much ice is up stream that is why we are going to look at getting that stuff broken up down there so that gets moving down and get it through town andamp quot City of Minot officials say for right now there is no need for concern as the water continues to flow at a steady rate If you notice anything suspicious you are asked to give Minot Public Works or the EOC a call the numbers are on your screen

Guard to Break Minot Ice Jam
The Mouse River in andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t minot-ndandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt Minotandamp lt aandamp gt this morning moved above the andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t national-weather-serviceandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt National Weather Serviceandamp lt aandamp gt s projected crest level That is the fifth highest level ever recorded at the Minot recording site Adding to the trouble an ice jam and the National Guard may now be called in to break that jam up and make sure water keeps moving The situation developed early this morning But don t expect pictures like we saw a few weeks ago in andamp lt a href andamp quot http www kxnet com t bismarck-ndandamp quot class andamp quot kxInlineLinkandamp quot andamp gt Bismarckandamp lt aandamp gt of explosives breaking up the jam Dean Lennertz serving as a public information officer for the county says a boat may do the trick to get things moving
