Movie star visits Bismarck


It s not often Hollywood comes to Bismarck However today it does and Bismarck will soon be the place a new movie will be Filmed Brad Feldman shows us how this story will make you proud Brad Melby is back in his school where it all started Brad Melby remember Minnesota I guess you d call me the less than ordinary not really remarkable student Melby is a 1985 graduate of Century High School Its a small part of the movie he and actor John Carroll Lynch are in Bismarck for this afternoon They are scouting places to film the movie Remember Minnesota John Carroll Lynch Remember Minnesota Bismarck has kind of a reputation for about really traditional midwest values and committment and hard work The movie is about the 1987 University of Minnesota rowing team that trumped all the odds John Carroll Lynch Remember Minnesota They rowed out of a corrugated tin hut behind the power plant and defeated some of the biggest schools in the nation that year That year the five member team from the U of M went onto compete in the Intercollegiate Rowing Championships Brad Melby Remember Minnesota We had of course tremendous success even though we were just a rag tag team of four guys and one coxswain the gal that was steering the boat and we went onto win the worlds largest ragatta in Philadelphia Its an experience that Melby says shaped his life Brad Melby Remember Minnesota Instead of being ordinary I wanted to strive to be more extraordinary It s what helped get him on the right path he hopes others will take away once the movie is created Brad Feldman KX News Melby says they will begin filming in the spring of 2008 The Remember Minnesota film is expected to be in theatres in 2009 You might also recognize John Carrol Lynch from the movie Fargo Grumpy Old Men Faceoff and the Fugitive
