Gone Fishing:River fishing
With the fourth of July holiday today we have a special Thursday installment of Gone Fishing and this week Greg Schoneck shows us how to be successful on the river Greg Schoneck Hi and welcome to Gone Fishing I m Greg Schoneck You You know if you re a die hard lake fisherman like me the river can seem a little bit mysterious Well today on Gone Fishing we re gonna try and take some of the mystery out of river fishing particularly drifting lindy s and jigs As your drifting down river the current as well as the wind can just play havoc with your drift What you re trying to accomplish is a perfectly vertical presentation Now you can see right here I hit bottom I m gonna lift it up about an inch and I m also nice and vertical I m using my electric motor where drifting down stream I got the bow of the boat facing into the wind and I got my electric set on about 1 What that does is it helps me compensate for the wind pushing me back up into the current It s that perfectly vertical presentation you re looking for to get the fish into the live well And there we go You know if you re on the river one of the most important things in my mind is that you have that vertical presentation I don t know why that works so well but you just gotta use your electric in the wind in the current get your jig vertical even if you have to go to a heavier jig it ll help you pick up these Walleyes Let s get this walleye in the boat and see what he looks like It s that vertical presentation that makes it work Until next time I m Greg Schoneck and I m Gone Fishing
