Gone Fishing 6-6
In the past few editions of Gone Fishing we ve learned how to pick a jigging rod and tonight Greg Schoneck shows us what to look for in a jig Hi and welcome to Gone Fishing I m Greg Schoneck You know when it comes to jigging there are 2 things I want to consider every time Size of jig and hook style Well today on Gone Fishing we re going to talk about both Jig size is 1 for me I m trying to get a jig that s light and going to drop very slowly so I want the lightest possible jig I can A slowly dropping jig will ut more fish in the boat Second consideration is hook size On any jig I m using for live bait I want a hook that has a lot of gap right here between the barb and the shank because that s going to let the point of the hook enter the Walleye s mouth Lots of shank and light jig more walleyes in the boat Well let s put this to work for us and see what happens There we go Remember it s jig size You have to stay in contact with the bottom but you want your jig to drop as slow as possible It s that slow drop that will put more fish in the livewell Also remember the second thing It s that gap between the barb and the shank Pick a jig with lots of gap and you ll set more hooks Eat more fish Let s get this little guy in here and see what we got Ah come here little fella Yes indeed Until next time I m Greg Schoneck and I m Gone Fishing
