Flooding forces Aberdeen family out for good


In Aberdeen people aren t sure if their house will be standing once the water goes down The city got up to nine inches of rain over the weekend Reporter Ben Dunsmoor caught up with one family who is packing up for good Reporter For Mike Dick and his family a boat is the only way they can rescue their belongings in their house that is surrounded by water that s not going away Chris Dick It hasn t gone down from what it was that night if anything it s come up a little bit more Reporter Today was clean up day as the Dick s try and salvage anything that wasn t in their basement which is still full of water all the way up to the first floor Chris Dick Brought a boat in and just started loading things in boats Reporter And now they re trying to find any dry place to put these bags of belongings Chris Dick He said you have a storage unit possibly that we could use our house is totally under water and we ve saved what we can Reporter This family isn t expecting to return to their home even once the water is gone The water pressure has caused one of the basement walls to collapse cracking other walls throughout the house Chris Dick I think the water is what is holding the basement and everything in the house together once this water is down it could probably totally go Reporter Which is why dozens of bags are being brought to dry ground because this may be the last day the Dick s will call this house home Chris Dick I don t think we re going to be able to come back we don t know what s going to happen Reporter In Aberdeen Ben Dunsmoor Keloland News The Dicks say they will be staying with family in a dry part of Aberdeen while they figure out what to do next
